About

Kevin Hayward

My combination of paramedic registration, current first aid certifications, including advanced first aid (HLTAID014), ongoing commitment to maintaining currency in best practices, documented success in life-saving CPR interventions, fire safety qualifications, and proven emergency response leadership makes me uniquely qualified to deliver comprehensive workplace safety training and emergency medical services in high-risk environments. I pride myself on delivering engaging training that is borne through experiences to create realistic learning experiences for all participants.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL & FIRST AID EXPERTISE

I am a highly experienced emergency response professional with over 15 years of real-world experience in emergency medical services and workplace health and safety. My career spans both international and Australian contexts, combining extensive field experience with comprehensive formal training in emergency response and medical care.

I hold a current AHPRA Paramedic Registration (PAR0002289468) and maintain up-to-date first aid qualifications, including HLTAID009 (Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), HLTAID010 (Provide Basic Emergency Life Support), HLTAID011 (Provide First Aid), and HLTAID014 (Provide Advanced First Aid), all completed in April 2024. I am also trained in PUAEME005 (Provide Pain Management) and hold Advanced Life Support (ALS) 1 certification.

I demonstrate ongoing commitment to maintaining currency in first aid practices, regularly updating my certifications to ensure alignment with current Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and best practices. My training history shows consistent renewal of first aid qualifications (2015, 2017, 2024, and 2025), reflecting my dedication to staying current with evolving emergency care protocols and techniques.

My real-world emergency medical experience is extensive and proven. As a Professional Firefighter/Paramedic with Pompano Beach Fire Department in Florida (2006-2013), I responded to fire and medical emergencies in a city of over 150,000 residents, maintaining an average response time of six minutes while providing advanced cardiac life support as a first responder. My life-saving skills are documented through multiple commendation letters from fire department officers recognising my successful CPR interventions and cardiac arrest resuscitations, demonstrating not only my technical proficiency but my ability to perform under extreme pressure in critical, time-sensitive situations. I assessed scenes, determined priorities, and escalated resources as required for all 911 calls, determining appropriate facilities for patients requiring trauma or cardiac care.

FIRE SAFETY & EMERGENCY RESPONSE

I have completed comprehensive fire safety training, including CPPFES2020 (Conduct Routine Inspection and Testing of Fire Extinguishers and Fire Blankets) and CPPFES2010 (Inspect and Test Fire Hose Reels), both completed in November 2024. My Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue (2016) includes specialised units in fire team operations, breathing apparatus operation, and hazardous materials incident response.

My practical fire response experience includes conducting interior attack operations on all types of fires (residential, high-rise, and commercial structures), operating fire trucks with water supply and aerial operations, and leading emergency response teams in mining environments.

CURRENT PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE

Throughout my career in Australian mining operations (2014-2024), I have maintained on-site medical centres, managed workplace injuries, developed return-to-work plans, and delivered first aid training courses, including proper AED use. As Safety Superintendent at Bellevue Gold Limited (2022-2024), I recruited, coordinated, and conducted Emergency Response Team (ERT) training while ensuring emergency response equipment remained deployment-ready at all times.
